What is Hepatitis A?

Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection caused by the Hepatitis A virus (HAV). It's typically spread through the fecal-oral route, meaning someone unknowingly ingests the virus from contaminated food or water, or through close contact with an infected person.

Key Symptoms to Watch Out For:

While some individuals, especially young children, may not show any symptoms, others can experience a range of them, including:

• Fever: Often one of the initial signs.
• Jaundice: Yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. This happens due to the buildup of bilirubin, a yellow pigment, in the blood.
• Fatigue: Feeling unusually tired and weak.
• Nausea and Vomiting: Stomach upset can be common.
• Abdominal Pain: Discomfort, particularly in the upper right side of the abdomen where the liver is located.
• Loss of Appetite: Feeling less hungry than usual.
• Dark Urine: Urine may appear darker than normal
• Pale Stools: Bowel movements might be lighter in color.
